Numbers in life
People often wonder about numbers: when they are so ugly, why do we need to have them in our lives. It is not numbers which are important, it is amounts: whether something is less than a needed amount, equal to it or more. Like, do we understand enough about numbers in daily life. Numbers connect to what structures are possible using a set of building block with that number of elements. But the structures themselves have to do with the things themselves and not with numbers at all. Like for example in social things, how many persons we have in a group may affect things a lot but that is a complicated social matter and not dependent on any numbers. Since what determines how well teh group will work together is the amount of social skills of the members of the group, their likings that they share and the common objectives of the group. For exammple if one person of the group can handle only so and so many relationships at a time without getting confused about who is who or whom to listen to, that affects the number of persons that is good to have in a group including him. But all the other members of the group have their own peronal charachteristics too, so the end result isn't a numerical matter but more like a complex system with ever varying kinds of parts and functions. The simple model of numbers doesn't tell anything about the system. Onew might say taht in any case one is different from many or two from three. But it is n't even so: each time that we do something we do it inside our social pictures of the world, so all oure social relatiobships fron our life tine affect what we do and how - some affect slightly and some more but all do affect in a way or another since they are a part of the landscaspe in which we act.
