Justice
JUSTICE
Justice optimises a system. Giving each part feedback according to what it is like, one can put each part to its best place in the system and so optimise the system toward common good.
Justice which takes into account the basic living requirements of each, brings the most harmonical cooperation that I know of.
NATURAL HIERARGIES
There is a natural hierargy in human societies: the way that is according to real justice, for the good of all.
If we get apprexiated for our good sides, they get supported for the good of all, and others can take us as an example for themselves without losing position at all. If we lose position when we do not according to justice deserve a good position, our bad sides, especially irresponsibility, get discouraged.
When the one who understands better and carries responsibility is in a deciding position things get done well for the good of all. This is possible by using many many partial hierargies at the same time: one for each subject, skill, thing to decide, piece of knowledge,... Correcting one's own errors is a thing to value and to be demanded from all, especially from those in a deciding position. This creates a natural repair mechanism for the society and is an ideal way to arrange things.
CARRYING RESPONSIBILITY of the whole and using a good picture of the whole with all emphazies and roles of things right, guide the whole toward the good of all. One is not allowed to affect things which one does not carry responsibility over.
There is a saying in Finland: "Honour those who truly deserve respect." (Meaning: even when it is an unorthodox choise, and do not give honour according to custom to those who do not according to justice deserve it).
This is the way that we organize things in my homecountry Finland in North Europe.
Justice:
Giving each person feedback according tom what the person does.

Thus, it is possible to let the different options compete about which one is the most benefical, worth doing.
This is how in free competition also crimes compete among other ideas but cause so much damage to the whole that they get dropped away in optimising, by the effect of negative feedback equal to the total damage caused.
Good, benefical is to be preferred and things that are harmfult o the whole (in other words: evil things) are to be prevented.
OPTIMISING WHOLES
Supporting good, and preventing evil, is a necessity when one thinks from the point of view of optimising on a value-free basis.
BIGGEST FACTORS ARE ON THE LEVEL OF THE WHOLE, so it is necessary to pay attention especially to the whole, not just parts.
IMPORTANT:
Compare justice, natural evolution, market economy, democracy, honesty and thinking: feedback according to what the thing is like. This is what the success of the market economies is based on. And why we value objectivity. And why the evolution produced well functioning optimised arrangements fitted for their purposes. It is also a reason to value honesty, justice and democracy from the point of view of the standard oof living, if one understands the value of the market economy for the standard of living, like most do!
Moral is the product of natural and cultural evolution: an optimised way to take care of the benefit of the whole society.
IF THE LEADERS OF A COUNTRY STEAL
There is a Finnish saying: "What the big before, the little ones after."
If the leaders of a country steal by lying or doing unjustice - either from other countries or from their own subordinates - others typically copy the amount of lies and unjustices to their personal social life and to their business interactions in their environment which is typically inside the nation, in order to trust in the most intelligent ones' understanding.
So if the leaders gain X% extra by lying or doing unjustice, all the others try to do the same. That means at least X% of everything lost to lies, so the effectiveness of the system decreases X% per every dimension of the system. So the leaders gain (100+X)% * ((100-X)%)^n = ((100%)^2 - (X%)^2 )((100-X)%)^(n-1)< (100%)^2 - (X%)^2 < 1.
So since the dimension of the system, n, is at least one, the leaders lose instead of gaining! For example the dimension of the system n=2 if there is stealing plus laziness because of lack of motivation because of the stealing. That would cause a loss of 2X% in addition to the gain of X% by stealing, so the total effect is a loss of X% to both the leaders and to the citizens.
In other words, lying or unjustice as a practise in a country decreases its standard of living noticeably, so much that honesty and justice would be a more beneficial option.
So: A proud nation is a self sustaining nation!
Also if it is a big nation capable of mistreating others. It will not miastreat others even if it were strong enoung for that, because otherwise its own functioning would suffer so much that it would lose much instyead of gaining anything extra when the total effect is counted.
The standard of living of a country affects life much more than what an individual can gain by stealing:
150 years ago 10% of the population of Finland in Europe died of starvation. Now that is long past, without help from other nations, except the Marshall aid during and after the World War II, just with the help of good local moral, justice and honesty. Now each family has a TV, warm home, lots of food, books, free schooling, most own a car, most a CD player, radio, microcomputer, phone, most a mobile phone etc. That much one cannot gain by stealing: honesty as a custom pays much better!
Justice while taking into account the basic living requirements of each brings the most harmonical cooperation that I know of, is the most fair arrangement. (= Justice while helping the ones at need: that's what groups are for: for the common good and for the times of emergency.)
Obedience is often not moral. The unmoral ones should obey the moral ones in matters concerning moral. But the moral ones instead should carry responsibility, follow justice, respect human values and use common sense which takes into account the whole. One should make systems self-repairing this way and give room to life and common sense and to real responsibility about where the world is going.
Co-operating for common good according to justice is moral.
Sacrificing oneself is usually against moral: It is not healthy and so it doesn't give a good healthy example to others. Instead one should reward well indeed the good and moral ones so that they do not need to sacrifice themselves when they want to do something for the good of the whole society or something of the kind. One must remember to carry responsibility, in ways that are according to real justice!
If an evil person pays back his evil deeds by sacrificing himself, it is moral. It is not moral to lie about who is that much evil. Also evil ones typically have a sense of rationality, an understanding of what the good living conditions demand. Even though they typically do not follow that understanding, it makes them understand that it is just they who have to make the sacrifices for supporting common good and they who have to be punished.
I do not forgive anything and I try to not to forget a good deed done, and I do not give mercy, except when true justice respecting human values and carrying responsibility (while getting sizes right and taking into account all sidea of the situation) demand so. Minor offences one can make up but it isn't as good as without having done anything wrong. This is a question of having already found the right course of action: human values, justice and responsibility.
Giving too much mercy and sacrificing oneself destroy justice and are not moral. Use instead the society agreement for supporting human rights and carrying responsibility.
It is said that one should love others as much as one loves oneself. But since it is one's own life and the lives of one's children which one affects the most, that's what one must most carry responsibility over. But that means carrying responsibility especially in the cases which affect one's own life or the lives of one's children, like decisions about their lives, and not the cases which affect especially others, like many social interactions do - always carry responsibility over the thingsthat you influence the most, even when they are the lives of others. Live and let others live is a good rule to follow. Having justice and human values as goals brings the most harmonical coexistence that I know of and so the best life for you and your children too, and for your social environment too. Life ois a win-win game of cooperation or a lose-lose game of conflicts, not a win-lose matter because we form an interconnected whole: a disease in the neigbourhood may spread to our home too, and health in the environment cures us too since we are social beings. It is said that money does not bring happiness and that evil ones have a shit like end of their lives. The standard of living and the ways of living which we need in order to be happy and strong, we can achieve via healthy cooperation only. If we count on personal gain when the world goes ashtray, we are heading for a hell and that is against our true nature which wants us to end up in a paradise instead. Remember that if you steal or do unjustice, others will do so too, and so you have ruined the standard of living. The whole is not independent of what we as social, thinking sand feeling beings do: the whole is created by what we ourselves do - believe it or not!
It is not for the good of the system to let anybody to be a parasite. Being healthy pack animals and respecting the society agreement is a completely different thing than supporting parasites. Make that difference clear!
