Changing a symbol

CHANGING A SYMBOL
The change of a symbol should be well grounded on rationality and on national values.

One should refer to the values directly and use the new symbol just to symbolise the commonly respectable values and to unify the nation in the name of those values. So the symbol, to begin with, would be just a symbol for the values and for the nation, the values and the unity of the nation being primary. One could also refer to the traditional respect for those values among the nation and say that this is anew symbol with which to pay respect for those shared traditional values.
As the symbol gains years, it too can become a part of the tradition and of memories, having a life of its own, leading the people's identity partly to its direction. This makes one think that symbols should be chosen carefully and before the need for them is obvious (i.e. at peace time), so that they are fully ready for use when the need for them arises (for example a possibility of a war). By this I refer to the lion symbol of my homecountry Finland which is too war likew in my opinion, to suit the nation of Finland.
