What's Normal

I thought it was normal

To love one who hurt

I thought it was love

When his anger would spurt

 

Then as I got older

My thinking did change

But the behavior  I saw

To me wasn't strange

 

It did warp my thinking

About love and commitment

And then God gave to me

True love to me He sent

 

Then it became clear

What I thought the norm

Was just not that

And I need not be harmed

 

Now I just fight back

Nor more will it occur

For deep inside me

Feelings it stirs

 

Abuse is a sin

And a crime to boot

Put a stop to it now

Please give a hoot

 

For it is a cycle

Which only you can break

But with friends and family's love

You surely will make .......... It
