This is a picture of the Ruesch Family Farm in Vesper, Wisconsin. The farm was founded in the late 1800's and has been in the Ruesch family ever since. This is one example of a dairy farm losing business in the dairy industry, but branching out and diversifying. The way my family has chosen to diversify is by organic cranberry farming.

Family Farming in Central Wisconsin is a way of life. Measures are being taken to preserve this time honored tradition. In this web site, I will attempt to preserve this tradition by capturing stories about organic farming.

In the storytelling section of this web site, you'll read about stories of farmers being terrified by the sound of a coyote near their shelter late at night. One of the quintessential elements of cranberry farming is frostwatch.

Frostwatch is essential so that farmers have time to flood their berries before any frost kills the crop. Many cranberry farmers have houses or make-shift shacks set up in order to be closer to the berries during this delicate time.
