I recently came across the free Internet encyclopaedia called "Wikipedia". There seem to be a number of articles that are related to evolution that repeat the same tired arguments that have already been disproved by creationists. Examples include horse evolution, whale evolution and human evolution which are patently not true . One must remember that it is not true that true creationists believe in "fixed" species". One should rather think of the natural kingdom as a developing "forest", rather than the evolutionary tree. Please see chapter 2 of the book "Refuting Evolution" on the Answers in Genesis site for a diagram of this. Herewith a few quick points on horse evolution. It is important to remember that even today, not all horses are the same. They vary greatly in height, for instance, between the various breeds. Also, some breeds have 17, 18 or 19 pairs of ribs. Some breeds have even, in recent times, had three toes, thus corresponding to the extinct protohippus1. A one-toed species Pliohippus and a three-toed species Neohipparion were found in the same rock layer indicating that they both lived at the same time and that one did not evolve from the other.2 One must also remember that fossils do not come with a label attached that gives their age. This is assigned by the evolutionist based on the depth the fossil was found at. (Radioactive dating ALWAYS bows down to the expected "date". So if a date is "too old" or "too young" based on radioactive methods, then IT is discarded.) One article in Scientific American stated :"A sequence of fossils spans the evolution of modern horses from the tiny Eohippus." [SA 83] "One non-horse and many varieties of the true horse kind does not a sequence make." 3 References: 1. O.C. Marsh, ‘Recent polydactyle horses,’ American Journal of Science 43:339–354, 1892. 2.
