Prophesy Related To JesusThe Old Testament was completed about 400 years before the time of Jesus Christ. It was NOT written after His ministry! So we have a remarkable prediction of Christ throughout the Old Testament. All these things can be seen in the New Testament. Here are just a few passages: 1) The type of birth (virgin birth): Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 2) His place of birth : Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. 3) He would lead a sinless life: Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. 4) He would do miracles : Isa 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 5) His great ability to speak: Isa 50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. 6) He would be rejected by the Jewish nation: Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 7) He would be crucified :Psa 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. Other: Read Isaiah chapters 52:14 to 53:7 : being innocent He paid for our sins. Note the descriptions of Christ throughout Isaiah chapter 53; Extract from Psalm 22: Psa 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. 16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. Christ would come riding on a donkey: Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Gen 49:11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: (You don't often see the above Gen 49:11 quoted!) John the Baptist would come before Him: Mal 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. Isa 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Christ would be betrayed for thirty pieces of silver: Zec 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. He would be given gall and vinegar on the Cross: Psa 69:21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. He would rise from the dead (NB): Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (The fact of Jesus existence is also seen in the writings of non-believers of the time : Josephus, Pliny etc.) The list goes on and on. There are many other things predicted about Jesus Christ that prove that He was who He said He was. On this basis we can be certain who Jesus was. When we then add all the other predictions about the nation of Israel that have already come to pass EXACTLY AS PREDICTED WITH NO ERROR, then you can see why I have NO doubt that the BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD AND THAT THE TRUE GOD, THAT MADE THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH, DOES EXIST. |
