The University of Guyana (UG) says anyone who is suspicious of the authenticity of any certificate bearing the likeness of genuine UG certificates should contact the office of the registrar.

The university said that it has become aware of fake certificates purporting to be issued by the institution that have been circulating locally and overseas. In an advertisement Registrar, Dr David Chanderbali, advised persons suspicious of the authenticity of any certificate containing elements of genuine University of Guyana certificates to immediately contact the office of the registrar at telephone number 222-4184.

The advertisement stated that transcripts (other than student copies) are, as a rule, posted directly to the nominated addressee and these may also be submitted for verification.
