Nip Tuck season 3 finale

I would like to take the oppurtunity to discuss the season finale of Nip Tuck which aired last night, Tuesday December 20th. This entire season has been pretty good and it has only been marred by the appearnees of the Carver. For those of you who don't know, the Carver is the serial rapist and mutilator that the doctors, Sean and Christina, have been put up against periodically this season and last season.

My only gripe with this character is that it has taken up far too much time on a still young series. Out of the roughly 45 episodes, I'd say the Carver has had a hand in at least 10. This makes for very repertivite television. And the thing is, Ryan Murphy the series creator, has had so many brilliant episodes that had nothing to do with scary masked men who carve out ironic masks on victims.

I was hoping that this would have been wrapped up finally after spending more than an entire season on it, but it looks otherwise. Why did they let him get away?

I'll tell you why. So when the ratings drop next season when the episodes are good, but don't involve the Carver, Murphy can write him back into the plot and the casual fans will tune in again. I can't say I blame him. He is leaving all doors open. But the Carver storyline reeks of Saw II cheesiness. This is not the storyline I expect out of an otherwise brilliantly written sitcom like Nip Tuck.

On other fronts, the finale was very good. The story arc with Matt, Ariel, and her crazy-ass racist father has been amazing. And, while it seems to be wrapped up in one way, there are so many doors let open with where this can go. This is what I'm most excited to see next season.

Then we have the Sean and Julia certain-to-be fiasco. Yeah, this part had a semi-happy ending to it. That's okay. With all of these depressing endings, it's nice to have a happy ending once in a while. Of course, we still don't know what's wrong with the baby Julia's carrying. My friend says it's twins. But I don't know. She didn't seem to happy about whatver the deal is.

But all in all, this was a good wrap-up. I wish we would seen the sure end of the Carver, but I'm not the one making money off of this show, now am I? There's a lot to look forward to next season; I for one, am very excited. It's too bad we have to wait like 9 freakin' months for it.
