HYDRA is the branch of the Nazi-German Army of World War II under the command of the Red Skull. It was an SS sub-division that created advanced weaponary for the army. HYDRA returns, revealed to have infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. since the organization's conception thanks to Armin Zola. HYDRA is now under the leadership of senior S.H.I.E.L.D. member Alexander Pierce and various S.T.R.I.K.E. members. After stopping HYDRA again it is revealed that HYDRA lives on, led by Baron Von Strucker and is in possession of Loki's scepter.
