Preston H. Longino, 84, Marthaville, LA, passed away March 26, 1999, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center having lost his long, courageous battle with Lyme Disease and its complications. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home; burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Longino was born August 22, 1914, in Marthaville, LA, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jennings Longino. He graduated from Tulane University and from Harvard Law School. He practiced law in the Kansas City-Raytown area for 54 years, and was a Senior Counselor of the Missouri Bar Association and a member of local and national bar associations. He grew up in what is now part of Kisatchie National Forest. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and had served as president of the Kansas City Anglers Club. He was formerly active in Troop 16 of the Boy Scouts and was a member of Mic-O-Say. He attained the rank of major during World War II, serving first as an aide to the Undersecretary of War in Washington, DC, then three yearsin the European Theatre in military government. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre by the Duchy of Luxembourg. He had been a member of Wornall Road Baptist Church, where he formerly served as moderator. He was a former member of Southwest Optimist Club,H.Longino, Jeff Longino, Mercer P. Longino Jr., Mary Lou Jordan, Barbara Godown Croft and Douglas Godown, and their respective families.
