Dragon Colors
Golds
or queens, are the mothers of the Weyr. They are the
only dragons to produce clutches, with exception to one green if there are
no other golds left on Pern. As in the case of Truth.
Of the dragons, Golds are also the largest and most enduring, which is why
they prove so difficult to catch. For similar reasons, no dragon disobeys an
Gold and risks incurring her wrath. Golds do not breathe flame, it is
unknown why. However, they do fly in their own wing, using flamethrowers to
kill Thread.
Golds have an ego to
match their size and repute, and they Impress only those older female
candidates with a strength of will matching their own, if not their ego. If
not, a Gold may grow to become reckless, spoiled, and utterly useless to the
Weyr. Ranging in color from a bright yellow to dark marigold.
Length (nose to tail): 48-50 m.
Wingspan: 55-65 m.
Shoulder-height: 7-9 m.

Bronze
are the leaders of the Weyr, as are their
riders. Largest of the males, they are cunning and strong. They must be, to
win the Golds. Unfortunately, this may lead the less cautious among them to
take hazardous risks that put themselves and others at risk. Bronzes usually
Imprint to males, and their riders are generally Weyrleaders, Wingleaders,
and riders of the upper wings. Ranging in color from a deep bronze-gold to
pale yellow-gold.
Length (nose to tail): 45-49 m.
Wingspan: 50-60 m.
Shoulder-height: 6-8 m.

Browns
are known as the workhorses of the Weyr. They
are mature, insightful, and wise, generally the seconds-in-command,
Wingseconds and Weyrlingmasters. Like the Bronzes, they fly long and hard
during ‘fall, and although they usually catch the green, now and then a
Brown will catch a Gold. Imprint largely to males, rarely to females.
Ranging in color from deepest soil to nearly black and dusty tan.
Length (nose to tail): 42-46 m.
Wingspan: 47-57 m.
Shoulder-height: 6-7 m.

Blues
are said to be the most loyal of the dragons. If you
must place your trust in a dragon, let him be a Blue. Beware, however, a
Blue dragon can be as cocky as the best of them, and some have an attitude
to boot. They have both stamina and a flighty speed that enables them to
catch emeralds, and, rarely, Golds. They Imprint to males or females. Some
Blues have a propensity for Search, or seeking out Candidates eligible for
Impression; that is, the future dragonriders of Pern. Ranging in color from
the sky's azure to a bold blue and deep, velvet navy.
Length (nose to tail):
38-42 m.
Wingspan: 40-50 m.
Shoulder-height:
5-6 m.

Greens
are the sprinters of the Weyr, packing an incredible
speed unique to their kind. Because of this, they lack in endurance and must
be switched out during ‘falls. Smallest of the dragons, these females also
happen to be the most moody as well, and sometimes jealous of their gold
sisters. When they feel a thing, it is with their whole heart, and they may
hate you one moment and love you the next. Greens are the spice of the
Height- they make life more interesting, but let him beware who crosses one
of them. The emeralds, though not as intelligent as their Gold counterparts,
can surprise one with their memory, and after all, who would want to incite
a dragon's grudge? They Imprint to homosexual men, females, and
occasionally, heterosexual men. Like Blues, some Greens have a propensity
for Search, or seeking out Candidates eligible for Impression; that is, the
future dragonriders of Pern. Ranging from a pale jade to olive and darkest
Green.
Length (nose to tail):
34-38 m.
Wingspan:
36-46 m.
Shoulder-height:
4-5 m.
