An Angel Caught Me
The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7 My ten your old daughter Kristin was riding her bike without a helmet. Helmets were not compulsory then. Her sister was watching from the corner. A phone call came for her so I told her sister to call her back. Just then a car raced past the corner. Later I learned that he was doing 80 kmph in a 60 kmph zone. I heard a crashing sound and my watching daughter screamed. I ran to the corner to see Kristin bouncing off the road onto the grass nature strip. She lay completely still. I ran to her. She was just conscious; I asked, ‘What happened?’ She simply said, before going into unconsciousness, ‘An angel caught me.’ |
I saw her bike – a crumpled mess. The car had a smashed left- hand side bumper bar, side panel and headlight and a dent on the left- hand side bonnet where Kristin had landed. The windscreen was holed where her head smashed into it. There was another dent on the bonnet’s right hand side where she had landed a second time. Thrown by the car to the other side of the road she then bounced onto the nature strip. At the hospital the doctors were amazed! X-rays revealed, no broken bones, no damage to her head or body other than minor cuts and abrasions and a piece of glass in her hand. Today she is a healthy mother of three and a manager of a large nursing home. Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev’d. Tony Smith. |
