Chapter 1
“What do you mean the brat isn’t owling in anymore! So send some one to check on him Albus don’t tell me about it!”

Severus snarled at the headmaster, he had a sinking feeling he would end up errand boy to the golden boy yet again! As if he didn’t have enough to do between teaching and spying. He could not be responsible for that blasted brat anymore! Stupid boy probably just forgot while he was enjoying his blessed freedom from responsibility the entire summer.

“That is exactly what I called you here for my boy. I need you to go check on him. Lemon drop?”

The headmaster just looked at him with his fingers steepled and eyes all a twinkle as if daring him to refuse. But damn it he didn’t have time to argue with his surly Potions' Master he had a war to plan and right now Severus was the only free agent. He would have preferred to send one of the nameless order members. He only needed to know if the boy was alive. He knew he was taking a risk sending Severus, because for all his evil glares, and violent tendencies he would care if he found the boy in a state other then the splendor that he was rumored to live in. He just hoped those muggles hadn’t done anything to bad. Just a concussion perhaps, out cold that would explain the lack of response and could easily be explained by a minor child’s accident.

“No Albus I have far to much to do, with preparing for my classes and collecting information for the order I barley have time to sleep! No I don’t want a bloody Lemon Drop!”

He practically hissed at the old man. He was beginning to wonder if switching sides had been such a good idea. After having recovered from the resurrection, the Dark Lord had settled back down into the ways before all the pointless slaughters became a main stay in Death Eater agenda. He still felt the guilt for having gotten Lily killed but the way things were going Albus and Voldmort could be interchangeable. He just wished he knew which side was right anymore so he could grab the brat put him on it and end this migraine of an existence. He almost didn’t care anymore as long as the brat survived. That was the only penance he care to partake in any longer. Anymore and he just might as well kill himself now cause there would never be an end to it. In addition, those dam twinkling eyes and his holier then thou attitude was starting to grate on his last nerve.

“Now, now my boy no need to fret, just pop in check on him and your done 5 minutes at the most.”

He could tell that the man was at the end of his rope and would cave soon so he just looked at him and waited for him to finish seething. Perhaps he would show the uncaring required for this job. Just check that he’s breathing and be on his way. Perhaps getting him mad enough would achieve that goal. He felt a bit guilty but he took a sort of perverse pleasure in upsetting the normally stoic man.

“I’m sorry my boy. I would go my self but I have to plan for the raid on the Corvenous family. The information you collected has led us to believe that they are supporters of Voldmort.”

Ah, there it was the other reason Albus could be interchanged with the Dark Lord. The raids, horrible bloody happenings with no real rhyme or reason to them. It was all very reminiscent of the Dark Lord. He had given them nothing that would imply them as his supporters. No, he suspected it was just because they are purebloods. Ah, the circle of hatred continues and the balance of good and evil shifts… great now he was waxing philosophical! Damn him!

“Very well Headmaster! I’ll check on the brat!”

Albus smiled. Victory! One pissed of Potions’ Master equals no problems with whatever condition his little time bomb was in life was good. The muggles will continue to chip away at him and his rage will build and then at just the right moment when the boy is at his breaking point he’ll make it look like the Dark Lord killed his little friend Hermione Granger and away the little time bomb would fly and kill everything in his path. Moreover, when his job is done if he’s not already dead a poison will do the trick. Can’t have another Dark Lord rising up, can we now.

“Thank you Severus!”

He heard the cheerful tone hit his back as he swept out to go and complete his newest assignment. He snarled at portraits and any other unfortunate living being or other wise that happened to cross his path on his way out to the gates. That old man was up to something. He could just feel it. He had always been able to tell when the old coot was trying to piss him off. That must mean he didn’t want him at the top of his game when he arrived at the muggle residence. However, what good would that accomplish other then him possibly cursing one of them. What would that achieve? In any case, he wasn’t going to let the old man get to him. He would be his usual stoic and stern self. See how he likes that. He smirked at getting one over on the old man. He exited the gates of Hogwarts and with a load pop disaparated to Magnolia Crescent.

Meanwhile up in the smallest bedroom in number four Privet Drive a fight, or rather a massacre was taking place. Having not gotten the promotion he had hoped for Vernon Dursley had gone home early to take out his anger on his favorite punching bag.

“Freak! It’s your bloody fault. You should have worked harder on the dinner for my boss. Now you’re going to pay!”

The enormous Vernon Dursley bellowed as he towered over his smaller nephew as he griped the boys hair and held him up raining down both punches and insults on the barley conscious boy. He had a split lip and two black eyes, not to mention countless bruises and scratches all over his nearly emaciated body. The boy howled in pain as one of his ribs snapped. His uncle just smirked and licked his lips as he looked down at the boy.

“Hmm maybe its time you earned your keep in another way.”

He pushed the boy to his knee and licked his lips at the disgusted, disbelieving and terrified look on his nephews beaten and bloodied face. He kept his grip on the boy’s hair and reached down to undo his trousers.

“No! Uncle Vernon! NO! Please let me go!”

He screamed and just when his Uncle would have pulled himself out the doorbell rang. Vernon froze and looked at the boy pissed off to no end that the game had been interrupted. He growled and drew his fist back to knockout the boy. Harry got out half a scream before everything went black.

Severus was down stairs waiting at the door impatiently when he heard the scream cut off before the crescendo. He felt ice settle in his stomach. Was he to late? Had Death Eaters found this place? He cursed Albus for putting an anti-intruder spell on the door he couldn’t just break in. He started banging on the door. Vernon left the boy in a heap for later as he made his way down stairs to answer the blasted door. He stomped over and swung the door open fiercely.

“WHAT?”

He blinked stupidly then shook his head recovering himself it was one of those freaks! At his door! Of all the nerve! Wait… the boy. Nope couldn’t let him see the boy or… he didn’t want to think about that.

“What the hell do you want freak what are you doing here disturbing my life!”

He snarled. That was so far from the wrong thing to say. Severus had his wand out and pushed his way in. He looked around and spotted the stairs ignoring the man’s indignant cries and demands. He turned on him and glared.

“Where is Mr. Potter?”

He said in a deadly quiet voice as he glared icy death at the man. Vernon sputtered. How dare he? Nevertheless, can’t let him find the boy. He crossed his arms.

“He’s out.”

He stated simply to the glowering Potions master. He didn’t believe him for a moment.

“You are lying and therefore no use to me. Petrificus Totalis!”

He shot the spell at the hapless man who hit the floor like a ton of bricks. Severus growled and swept over to the stairs much to the horror of Vernon Dursley. He tore up the stairs the ice not melting one bit at the idea of what he might find. That muggle had obviously been doing something to Potter and the fact that the top button of the man's trousers was un-done did not bode well at all. He stopped when he came to a door not totally closed but had a line of locks running down the better part of it all there to keep something in. He paled. He did not want to see this. He had seen enough of this in his life he did not want to see this! Damn Albus! What was he thinking keeping the boy here? Didn’t he know? He steeled himself and swallowed. While he was standing out here like an idiot, the boy could be in there, dieing or wishing to. He strode to the door and pushed it open. There on the floor in the middle of the room was a bloody, bruised, and broken Harry Potter. He felt the bottom fall out of his stomach as he walked over and knelt down and checked for a pulse.

“What have they done to you? What has that muggle done to you? What has Albus condemned you to?”

He whispered as he set about stabilizing the boy enough that he would be able to travel. He would love to take him to the Medi-witch but he didn’t want Albus to get the boy again. No the Headmaster had fail in his duty and the boy was no longer safe in his care. Therefore, he scooped the boy up and left the residence intent on taking him somewhere safe. He would return later to tie up loose ends. Now it was time to get his charge some help.

“Lily had I known…”

He shook his head no time to dwell on the past time to make sure the boy would have a future. He walk past the anti-apparation wards and apparated with a pop to just out side Malfoy Manor. He knew they had an on staff healer that was Poppy’s equal. He was glad that the boy was unconscious he wouldn’t want him to injure himself waking up in a strange place and having a panic attack. He walked up to the door and knock. He was immediately greeted by a house elf.

“Greetings Sirs how may Dinky help you Sirs.”

The house elf inquired dutifully. Severus walked in and headed for the foyer with a nerves house elf on his heals.

“Sirs mustn’t enter until Sirs is announced!”

The house elf wailed and pulled on his ears. Severus glared at the retched creature fidgeting in a Malfoy pillowcase and tea cozy.

“Shut up you infernal thing, fetch the healer, and summon Lucious!”

He snapped, irritably and laid the boy down on a brown leather sofa, and continued to monitor his stability. He summoned Inky and gave him directions to Privet Drive to collect the boy’s belongings and owl. No telling what those muggles would do with them. Shortly there after the healer rushed in and eyeing Severus critically set to work on the boy. Not 2 minutes later Lucious stormed in.

“Severus Snape! What is the mea…? Is that Harry Potter? Good gods man were you that desperate to get back in the Dark Lords good graces that you had to beat the boy to with in an inch of his life?”

The aristocratic blonde snorted, and crossed his arms eyebrow arched waiting for the other wizard’s explanation.

“Of course not.”

He snapped and glared at his friend.

“His muggle Uncle did this to him! Albus sent me to see why he hadn’t been owling in and I found him like this. I know that old coot knew what was going on. He knows everything else why not this.”

The blonde nodded and walked over to the bar and poured them each a drink. He walked over and sat in one of his leather bound chairs.

“Ok any particular reason you brought him here instead of taking him back to Hogwarts?”

He inquired as he took a sip of his drink and observed his friend.

“He’s not safe there any longer. I don’t know what Albus is playing at but its nothing good. He’s taken to going on raids of Pureblood homes with no warning or permeable. His newest target being the Corvenous family.”

He informed him. Lucious was a bit startled.

“Severus I do believe that is the most information anyone has gotten out of you lately. I take it you have re-evaluated your choices?”

Severus nodded. He wasn’t going to deny it they both knew until today he had been firmly on the side of the light.

“I’m a Slytherin Luc I do what I must to survive and achieve my goals. Up until now, I thought the light held the key. I thought the light could aid me in keeping my promise to Lily. That is no longer so.”

He sipped his drink and looked over at the still form lying on the couch. He sat up a bit straighter upon hearing a groan from that direction and startled emerald eye fluttered and then popped open. They flew around the room taking in the occupants and gasped upon seeing Lucious Malfoy.

“Wha… what’s going on?”

A small rasp, barley a whisper issued from the dry lips. The healer tried to calm him but it wasn’t working.

“Relax Mr. Potter you are safe here.”

Emerald eyes swung around and locked on obsidian. He blinked and visibly calmed.

“What happened to my Uncle?”

He requested and the rasp persisted until the Healer finally managed to get him to drink some water.

“That whale… is still alive for now.”

He said a bit disgusted that the boy would care.

“Good… cause I want to be the one that kills him.”

He stated flatly then relaxed back down and fell asleep. All three men stared at the coldness that the boy had exuded while saying that. Severus was intrigued. Maybe this wouldn’t be that hard after all.

“Well that was rather unexpected.”

Lucious settled back down and sipped his drink. Severus snorted and went back to his own drink as well.

The next day found Severus in one of the guest rooms sitting by the bed containing Harry Bloody Potter, sipping tea and reading the Daily Rag.

Harry Potter the Boy Who Lived Missing!

When questioned about his where bouts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore states, “Oh I am certain the boy is in safe and capable hands and will turn up any day now.” When questioned farther the Headmaster declined to comment farther. Where is Harry Potter? Has he been captured? Is he, even now being tortured to death by the Death Eaters that Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge claims are merely isolated incidences meant only to scare us? On the other hand, has the Wizarding world been abandoned by its savior?

Severus snorted. Well didn’t take him long to seize this opportunity for what it was to him, a way to discredit that idiot Fudge and gain public opinion, so he can continue to operate unchecked. He looked over to the now stirring form on the bed.

“Welcome back Mr. Potter. Feeling better this morning I trust.”

He quipped conversationally and eyed the boy waiting for the explosion that never came.

“Yes thank you. You saved me again.”

The boy smiled and looked up at him. Severus didn’t quite no how to respond to that really. It sounded sincere and that’s what threw him. Normally the boy’s thanks were biting as if it hurt him to say it.

“Indeed. Some one has to keep you alive.”

He said rather off handedly and watched as the boy sat up sheets pooling around his bare hips. He swallowed. On that note, why hadn’t the Healer transfigured the boy some sleeping cloths?

“So… this is Malfoy Manor, I take it you finally changed your mind about Dumblefuck.”

He said whimsically as he stretched his stiff muscles, causing them to ripple under his lightly tanned skin. Severus had to catch himself before admonishing the boy for his chosen bastardized version of Albus’ name. In the end, he snorted at the word.

“Yes Mr. Potter it seems I may have made an error in judgment.”

Severus looked away a bit nervously as the boy swung his legs around and stood up completely naked. He thought he heard the boy snort.

“So Professor got any cloths I could barrow.”

He asked crossing his arms not even trying to hide his nakedness. Merlin what had he done to deserve this exquisite torture? He could feel the heat rising and felt sure his cheeks were pink. He continued to avert his gaze and licked his lips.

“Over there on the dresser.”

He said successfully hiding the nervousness in his voice. He couldn’t help but notice the boy was acting rather calm given the situation. He was finally able to refocus on the boy when he had pulled on the form fitting trousers. Damn Luc, that wasn’t much better then naked! Harry chuckled.

“Relax Severus I trust you. No need to get jumpy on me.”

He smiled at him. He smiled at him. Did that damn boy just smile at him? Why is that so surprising? The boy smiles at everything. No not everything. He had never been give one of the boy’s smiles. No defiantly not, he would remember something like that directed at him. He was far too dark. Yet, the boy had just smiled at him. Pop! Saved by the house elf.

“Zincky is here to tell master Sevvy and Harry that breakfast is served.”

With that little bit of death handed out the bloody elf vanished. Lucky thing to, he had come that close to hexing it.

“Sevvy?”

The damned boy covered his mouth and chuckled.

“Don’t even dare Mr. Potter if you value your life.”

He snarled at the amused youth.

“Oh of course not never.”

He smiled brightly and headed out the door but stuck his head back in with mischief sparkling in his eyes.

“Well come on. Sevvy!”

He giggled and took off running like the child that he is. Naturally, he let him go with out sinking to his level. At least that is what he would like to say. Alas, he chased the brat down to the dinning room and in. Earning, them both an odd look from Lucious.

“Well Severus, Mr. Potter, I trust you had a restful nights sleep.”

The aristocratic blonde inquired with a raised brow at there odd behavior. Harry sat down and nodded politely at him.

“Yes sir I did. Thank you for allowing your Healer to heal me.”

He said graciously whilst Severus glared at him and sat across from him.

“So young man. Do tell what do you plan to do with yourself now. I take it that you are no longer Dumbledore’s golden boy.”

He asked curiously believing that he was not to far off the mark. He knew that if the boy wanted to be neutral he would leave him alone, yet if he could be swayed, to become an ally so much the better. The boy looked up with a decidedly sour face.

“Most defiantly not. Barmy old coot I wish I could have escaped sooner but it was rather difficult trying to figure out whom to trust. I mentioned my plans to escape to my so-called best mate before summer. What did he do? He ratted on me and in the process insured that this summer would be like no other.”

The boy shuddered at the memory. Severus shuddered as well if what he saw was any indication.

“Well that is good to here. So you plan to remain neutral perhaps.”

The blonde hedged a bit. Severus snort. Some how he doubted he would be so lucky.

“Not bloody likely. That old man has put me threw hell and back again. I want to watch the twinkle go out of those damn eyes of his.”

He hissed with a bit more heat then he had intended.

“Sorry. Guess I’m still a bit wound up from yesterday.”

He said and looked over at Severus.

“I’d actually like to talk to Tom if that’s possible.”

He said as if he was asking him to pass the sugar, simple as that.

“You’ve been changing while Albus has kept me busy.”

He drawled as he snacked on a muffin and eyed the boy.

“Are you sure this is what you want?”

He wanted to be sure. He would stand by Lily’s son no matter what but he wanted him to be sure.

“Yes I am. I’ve made a discovery or two that while they had no baring on my original decision, have opened up a slightly different path for me.”

He said, having caught the interest of his two companions.

“You’re not going to tell us are you.”

Lucious groused. Severus had to hand it to the boy. He knew how to tell with out actually telling.

“Very well I think we could arrange a meeting, for lunch time perhaps.”

Severus asked both Lucious and Harry. Not wanting to rush Harry but also no wanting to impose on Lucious.

“That’s fine.”

“Acceptable.”

They slipped into a comfortable silence as they each ate and thought over the previous conversation.

Ten minutes before noon Severus entered the Library to collect Harry. Harry was lounging in a comfortable chair reading an old Dark Arts Tome this gave Severus pause but he shrugged it off.

“Mr. Potter it is time for your meeting.”

He said startling the boy. He nodded and set the book down and got up and fallowed him out. Walking close beside him as he led the boy to Luc’s office. There shoulders would occasionally touch and Severus had to wonder if the boy was trying to un-nerve him on purpose. They entered the office just as the Dark Lord flooed in. Gone was the snake man of 4th year, now where a monster once stood, there stood a man about Severus’ age. He had long white hair that he kept braided back loosely, nearly white skin, and bright red eyes. Far more attractive then the snake like creature but still imposing and even frightening non-the less.

“Mr. Potter.”

“Mr. Riddle.”

They nodded curtly to each other and shock hands. Severus was stunned. The Dark Lord never let anyone use his birth name. It didn’t look like Luc was fairing much better either. The four men took their seats and sat in silence for a moment while the house elf served tea.

“Now, I am glad to see that you escaped ahead of schedule Mr. Potter, and apologize for not getting to you sooner.”

“That’s ok Mr. Riddle. I fully understood the dangers you were risking to come and rescue me. I hope the points we discussed earlier are still acceptable.”

Severus blinked. It was taking all his skills as a spy not to go slack jawed. They had spoken before, but when? They were talking as if they believed each other to be there equal. Oh yes, it seemed that the Gryffandor Golden boy had many secrets of his own.

“Yes they are quiet acceptable and I look forward to our partnership.”

The Dark Lord nodded affirmatively.

“Good. I am ready to take my place as your heir as soon as possible. I do have one request. A recent development, my adoptive sister Ginny Weasley wishes to join us.”

He said and Lucious sneered.

“A Weasley? You must be kidding.”

He scoffed and was favored with one of the most frightening looks ever witnessed.

“I will let that slide since you have no idea what is going on. Do not mistake me Lucious, I am grateful for your hospitality, but I will not be disrespected.”

“How dare you speak to…!”

He was cut off, by an equally deadly look from the Dark Lord. If Severus didn’t know any better, he would swear the two were related. Wait did he say heir?

“If that is your wish she will be brought to the castle. You may mark her as your own after your coronation. Are there any other’s?”

The Dark Lord asked and eyed his future heir.

“Not as of yet. But with her help we are going to try and recruit some of the older Weasleys, while some may not think much of the family they have produced some very useful wizards. Gringotts Curse breaker, a dragon handler, and even the twins would be proud additions to our cause.”

“Indeed they would and would help to bring some of the uncertain purebloods to our side.”

Harry nodded and looked over at Severus.

“Your awfully quiet Severus. I know you’re not to fond of Weasleys either but surly that is not causing you to have second thoughts.”

He offered a bit worriedly. He wanted Severus on there side he was needed. Not just for his potions but Harry, himself needed him. He had come to this startling conclusion last year

“Of course not. I’m just stunned. All these years, I was certain there was nothing but air in there but you’ve proved me wrong many times to day.”

He snorted and looked away. Harry chuckled and smiled at him.

“Sorry to upset your worldly truths. I’ll try not to do it again.”

The Dark Lord laughed richly.

“Ah it has been to long since I have had anything good to laugh about.”

He cleared his throat and stood.

“I think that now it is time for me to be on my way. Harry if you wish you may come with me and get settled in your new home.”

He offered the young man. Harry smiled.

“Well… only if Severus comes to. It will be days before Remus can get away from the old coot and I think it might be nice to get to know my protector a bit better with out any interruptions since I know you will be busy making arrangements for the big day. Oh! That reminds me, I know just the muggles to use for entertainment.”

Severus was really going to have to get used to seeing such a dark look one minute and a happy angelic look the next. It was very disconcerting. Did he just call him protector?

“Oh very good your muggle relatives I presume. I shall have them collected as well.”

He walked over to the floo fallowed by Harry and Severus. After some floo powder, each called out Redavni Castle, and they were gone in a splash of green flames.

A short time later, Severus and Harry were sitting in the foyer of Harry’s Private rooms drinking a glass off Old Ogdens. Severus was staring into the flames and Harry was staring at Severus.

“I still can’t get over all that has happened in the past two days.”

“Indeed”

“Severus”

“Yes?”

“Thank you for not being a blind follower.”

This startled Severus a bit.

“What do you mean?”

“Your weren’t the first person that Dumblefuck had sent to check on me. I remember the first one that came. I was banging on the windows for him to get me out. He just looked up, decided I was alive, and that was good enough.”

That left Severus reeling. Some one had actually ignored his pleas for help. One of the supposed good people had just left him there.

“I am glad I was able to help you when I did. Had I had any idea… I mean… Albus has been feeding the entire order lies about you and your home life and I never thought to question them. Even when Remus would try to tell me, I didn't listen. I apologize I have done you a great disservice by not believing you. I’m not a good man Mr. Potter but I do have my own set of rules that I try and live by.”

Harry just smiled at him again.

“I know and that is all any of us can be expected to do. Mistakes happen but that’s ok as long as we can at least admit them.”

Severus snorted and looked at his drink.

“Have you slipped me a calming potion? We have been in almost constant contact for two days and we haven’t tried to hex each other.”

“No believe it or not I’m not all that annoying when I’m not being dogged by that retched red head Ron. Though Hermione is not much better at least she’s loyal”

“So you had a falling out.”

“Yes ever since he first ditched me we’ve been walking on egg shells and it only got worse through the years. I didn’t want to tell him about my escape plan but he wouldn’t leave and I needed to tell Hermione for it to work. I had hoped she would be enough to keep him quiet.”

Severus’ stomach clenched a bit at that, was he jealous of the little chit? However, it didn’t sound like they were an item if anything it sounded like Miss. Granger liked red hair.

“I see. Well unfortunately for you it seems Ronald is immune to her feminine wiles.”

He said with a smirk. Harry laughed a bit.

“So it would seem. Nevertheless, given some time I’m sure she could tame him. That’s the only reason he hasn’t made my list.”

He stated simply and sipped his drink.

“Now not that I am not glad you switched but, do to your past history I find it rather odd that you would choose to become his heir.”

“Ah yes I wondered when you might ask about that.”

He smiled and held out his hand and a letter flew from his trunk to his palm with out word or wand. He handed it over to him and sat back. “I received that letter last summer.”

Severus looked at the letter and opened it. He almost gasped when he recognized the handwriting of his best friend Lily.

Dearest Harry,

If you are reading this letter, you are 15 and your father and I are no longer with you. You should know that your father and I loved you dearly and if there was any way we could have spared you the pain of losing us know that we would have done it. Now what you may or may not already know is, Dumbledore can’t be trusted. He more so then Tom Riddle is bent on controlling the wizarding world. All threw this war if some one opposed him he made them vanish and found a way to pin it on the Death Eaters. He keeps secrets where it is not his place to keep them and makes decisions where it is not his place to make them.

I recently discovered that Dumbledore in fact placed me with my Muggle family. He used a memory charm on them to make them think I was theirs and no one ever knew the truth. I found it. When we had you the magical birth certificate, a magical document that cannot be forged or tampered with revealed my true maiden name. On your birth certificate, it lists as your parents, Mother Lily Marie Riddle and Father James Harold Potter. If you were to go to the Ministry, it would be thus. I know this is hard to believe dear but it is true. I know that Dumbledore will poison you against him but Tom Riddle is your grandfather. When you finish I, want you to find a way to get to your grandfather as soon as possible it is the only safe place. I have sent a letter to him as well as a blood sample for him to check so I know he will believe you.

Just remember honey we love you and we want you to be safe. Oh, and don’t be an ass like your father and be nice to Severus. He’s a good man and a dear friend of mine. In addition, if your dad wasn’t such an ass, and things had worked out better, I know he would have been a good uncle for you. He’s a brilliant potion maker. Don’t worry Hun I love your Dad, but that doesn’t mean I can’t think he’s an ass.

Love Your mother Lily Riddle-Potter

Severus couldn’t help but laugh at that last paragraph. He looked up at Harry and nodded.

“She never could get over how she managed to fall for him. She truly believed he was an ass but she loved him anyway. It really galled her in the beginning but she eventually just excepted it as one of the many things in this world that one just could not explain.”

Harry laughed hard at that.

“Yes I have a feeling Hermione is feeling much the same way right now. Unfortunately, something tells me that even if I had gotten that part of the letter first year you wouldn’t have gone any easier on me. I thank you for that though. It made me feel like a person rather then an icon. It kept me grounded.”

“That was my aim… though I was perhaps a little to zealous at times. For that I apologize.”

Harry smiled and sipped his drink. He tilted his head to the side and regarded him.

“So any other questions?”

“Yes… when were you able to get away and meet Lord Voldmort? And why were the to of you addressing each other in such a way?”

He asked. Those two questions simply rankled him the more he thought about it.

“Well to answer your first question, we met in my dreams threw our link. I’ve never had such good nights sleep. As for the second question, that was something we set up for negotiations so that we were both on the same ground. It just made things freer that way.”

Severus nodded.

“Makes sense, I’m impressed. I can’t believe I’m saying that to a Gryffandor.”

He muttered and Harry laughed.

“I’ll tell you a secret. I was actually meant to be in Slytherin, I asked to be put in Gryffindor after getting some bad advice from a redhead and a giant.”

Severus blinked and cursed under his breath for the sheer wrongness of it.

“There should be made a rule that students can’t influence the hat.”

Harry smiled and stood up and set his empty glass aside and offered Severus more but he declined.

“It probably is. I am the leading breaker of rules after all.”

“Hmm probably right. Well its getting rather late I should head back to the Manor.”

He stood and set his glass aside. Harry smiled and walked over to him.

“Are you sure you don’t want to stay? I’m sure I could find you a free room or you could stay with me. Plenty of room on the bed.”

Severus swallowed and looked at the young man standing in front of him. Harry licked his lips and Severus’ eyes fallowed the path of that wicked pink tong. He gave himself a mental shake and stepped back a bit.

“I’m not so sure that’s a wise idea.”

“Why, it's late the floo system is hideous even in the best of times.”

Was it his imagination or was the boy giving him a disappointed pout? No down Severus the boy must be drunk and that’s the only reason, he’s looking at you like that. He’d wake up beside you in the morning and scream and then where would you be? Dead most likely, not something he was in a hurry to find out. He jumped a bit when he felt a bed under him. The damnable boy had some how gotten him to the bed. He looked at the boy and growled.

“Very well but stay on your own side.”

He muttered and transfigured his robes into sleeping pants and shirt and crawled under the blankets.

“See that wasn’t so hard.”
