Ista's Weyrlings

Week 4

OOC

  • The dragons get to fly this week! Riders don't get to fly with their dragons until week 5.
  • To take off, type 'cd<dragon code> fly' or 'cd<dragon code> up'. To land, 'cd<dragon code> down'.
  • Your dragons should be flying under direct Weyrlingmaster dragon supervision until at least midweek. After they've mastered the whole landing and steering thing, you can have them flying overhead on your way to the beach or something.
  • The first flight, consisting of take-off, gliding to the other end of the bowl, and landing, must be RPed with a PC Weyrlingmaster if you want to get marked off on the Progress Record as having passed week 4.
  • Only one dragon will be allowed in the air at a time for the first flights, so if there's a group of you, be prepared to have to wait in line, both ICly and OOCly. (Although really, watching little dragons attempt their first landing just makes for fun RP.)
  • If you've been having trouble getting lessons, and would like to try and arrange a lesson (or several) with WLM staff, please @send us a time and date. If anyone is available at the specified time, they will @send you a confirmation.
  • Now that you all have your straps done and your descs set, there are no more 'pre-requisites' for RP'd lessons. Lessons can be played retroactively. This is to ensure that you don't have to miss out on a chance for a lesson just because you've missed a few others. For example, if you have not yet done the week 3 lesson, but are around when week 4 is being taught, jump in and just pretend like you've been riding your dragon around. When you get a chance, you can nab a Weyrlingmaster and RP week 3 as if it's back when your dragon was only five months old.
  • Remember to @send your choices for Wingleader, Wingsecond, and wing name to *wlm by the end of this week!

IC

  • Your dragons must be accompanied by a Weyrlingmaster's dragon while they are getting the hang of flying. They must not fly out of your sight EVER (or at least, for all of week 4).

  • Dragons are not allowed to hunt yet- they will hunt after they've flown with you (proving they can handle more than their own weight in the air without incident).

  • Your dragons will be expected to practice flying every day. This will come to replace wing exercises (because really, flying's pretty good for the wings).

  • You will get to learn the timeless Weyrling tradition of bagging, hauling, and tossing firestone. During Threadfall, it will be the Weyrling wing's job to keep the fighting wings well stocked with firestone, so best get building up the required muscles now.

  • Mounted ground formation practice will continue. You will all still be rotating into Wingleader and Wingsecond positions within the wing, as the official Wingleader and Wingsecond will not be announced until week 5.

  • You and your lifemates may now go anywhere within the confines of the Weyr. However, try to keep your visits to the caverns for when your lifemates are asleep. They may be getting bigger, but you still shouldn't be leaving them alone just so you can go and have klah with old friends or anything.

  • Remember, oiling, bathing, feeding and mucking out of couches hasn't stopped yet.

  • Still no alcohol, and still no romantic relationships.
