Ista's Weyrlings

Week 1

OOC

  • All Weyrling should be described as having short hair, and all @wearings should be set to Ista’s Weyrling uniform: orange tops and black bottoms.
  • Dragon messages should be personalised (type ‘@messages <dragon’s dbref #>’ to view messages, and ‘<message> <dragon> is <message>’).

IC

  • Wash the dragons, oil the dragons, turn the dragons over! Poor oiling means itchy, scratchy hide, and unhealthy hide will crack when it comes time to go between.
  • Feed your lifemate! He or she will be very hungry very often. It may be difficult to differentiate your own feelings of hunger from your lifemate's, and vice-versa, so make sure you feed yourself too!
  • Do some simple exercises with your lifemates; stretches, walks around the bowl, etc.
  • Remember, you’re confined to the Northeastern Bowl, the Barracks, and the Pool.
  • Also, there's to be ABSOLUTELY NO alcohol, and no relationships for the remainder of your time in the barracks. If a rider is drunk and is thinking differently, the dragon could well be traumatised; if a rider drinks until passing out, a young dragon may assume its rider is dead, and would go between. As for relationships, dragons are still easily emitting their emotions to everyone at this stage, and your relationship would be broadcast all over the Weyr. Besides, who has time in this busy period to keep up a real relationship, anyway?

Some notes on @messages:

%N is the name of the person who will receive the message.

%T is the name of the dragon (or the thing to which the messages are attached).

%p is a pronoun specific to the gender of the person who will receive the message.

The messages with an ‘o’ in front of them will be what is seen by the bystander; the ones without are what is seen by the person doing the action.

For example, typing ‘omount Dragonth is %N uses %p big arms and crawls onto %t.’ will mean that, when Weyr’ling mounts Dragonth, bystanders will see:

Weyr’ling uses his big arms and crawls onto Dragonth.

If Weyrling was a girl, a bystander would see:

Weyrling uses her big arms and crawls onto Dragonth.

Typing ‘mount Dragonth is You use your big arms and crawl onto %t’ will mean that, when Weyr’ling mounts Dragonth, Weyr’ling will se:

You use your big arms and crawl onto Dragonth.

Any questions can be directed to WLM staff.
