Wife: Mattie Cox. Now living with 3rd wife. Children: Ella Dyer, md Ernest Roberts of S[???] AR; ???? Dyer, md Thelma Wells of ????? AR; Beulah Dyer, md Theodore Stephens of Newport AR; ???? Dyer ????? Service: second sergeant of Co G 4th TN Infantry CSA, known as the Lauderdale Invincibles, raised at Ripley TN, enrolled 16 May 1861 Germantown TN; surrendered 1865 NC. Isaiah became a member of the First Methodist Church (then MECS) in Newport 1910 as did Mrs. Mattie Dyer. The listing in the history of the church show his name as J.H. Dyer and notes his death date as 1926. I have this obituary from the Newport Daily Independent of Sat., June 26, 1926 (republished in the weekly edition of Fri., July 2, 1926): “I.H. Dyer, aged 86, died at his home in Little Rock last night at 2 o’clock of heart failure. The deceased was the father of Mrs. Theodore Stephens, who with her two little daughters, Florine and Elizabeth, left this morning for Little Rock.” On the 1840 census of Williamson Co. TN, I found William Dyer, age 20-29, with females aged 0-4 and 15-19, and also an Isaiah Dyer, shown between 30-39. Hardeway Alston, whose dau md William Dyer, is also listed on this census. By 1850 Hardaway Alston was already in Madison Co.
