Confinement to Definition

Part of the observer affect is that we interact with the thing
observed and thus, modify it and/or its behaviour. One part of
this goes back to the "classification problem". Which briefly
is that by classifying a thing (think the Genus/Species model
in the Lineaus system of biology), we tend then to "see" the
thing in those terms -and thus exclude other possibilites; eg,
a pair of pliers CAN be used as a hammer. Contrast this with
the idea that "when the problem looks like a nail, then ever
tool looks like a hammer".

Thus, be defining a "thing" as (say) a dinosaur, we automatically
bring to it a set of associated properties that may in fact NOT
apply; eg, the coelocanth ??sp?? - it's a dinosaur, so therefore
it must be extinct, and etc.
