World War 2 Reenactment: Das Reich Group

Willkommen to the homepage of 2 SS Pz. Div. Das Reich "Der Fuhrer" Regiment, a World War II reenactment group from the American mid-west (MI, IN, OH and NY) portraying the armed soldiers of the Waffen-SS, Heer, and its auxiliaries. Members within our unit have researched and execute one of a number of speciality impressions including infantry, artillery, engineering, medical, reconnaissance, and communications. Additionally, we are the host for the Onondaga, MI battle site.

Our site is designed to give new and current reenactment participants a look into our unit and the soldaten we portray. Some of our members are motivated by family history in the war, others by general cultural interest; however, no persons within this unit have political affiliations or beliefs that coincide with period or neo-Nazism. We do not condone or accept hatred or intolerance, and believe that all soldiers, sailors and airmen are brethren. Those supporting any racist, fascist, or extremist viewpoints should look elsewhere; we are involved in military historical interests only.

We are accepting new applicants to our ranks, and invite any potential new recruits to contact our recruitment officer. This site does provide an informational framework about who we are, and our reenactment purposes, so all interested parties are encouraged to explore it!

This unit holds membership with TSG for purposes of event insurance and inter-unit coordination. Unit members are expected to individually submit applications to this organization and adhere to its rules and guidelines in addition to our own. Aside from organization fees, the unit does not individually require membership dues; we do, however retain the right to author and enforce behavior and authenticity standards for initial and continued membership.

17 March 2013: For Saint Paddy's Day, Wolff is enjoying beer, Event Calendar Updates, and changes to the Equipment Page. I've heard tell of erroneous supposition that authorizes early-war and "progressive" reenacting kit purchases. Since we commonly run into late-war opponents and scenarios, I've updated the equipment standards to reflect the reality of our unit and hobby. Bottoms up!

15 December 2012: Because I'm in a productive mood, I've added a Peenemuende update to the Vehicles page, and am tirelessly plugging away at - finally - getting all our old photos upgraded to the new site styling with Lightbox display. Check that Event Photo page to link to individual albums. We also have an update to our Unit Roster; I took some great pictures of all the members at Frankenmuth...facing the wrong direction. Yay, Wolff for updating, -5 for scatterbrained photography.

14 December 2012: We are not dead - the unit and Peiper here are actually in fine health! We even go to events still (well, less now in Peiper's case, 'cause AD takes its toll). I promise everyone that I am doing things to the website right at this very second to try to reflect that, and I may even upload it. Now, stop your doubting and abandon all lugubrious death-knells, or I'm going to have to comic respond. (Hour-later update: I redesigned the Event Photo page, and added the photos I've got from Onsted in 2011. You're welcome!)
