The Tree Silhouetted
The tree silhouetted by a blazing
fire
Its image shimmered in heat
waves
Leaves burning like a
thousand candles
A candelabrum for a sacred
death rite
Lighting had struck solitary
sentinel
Its sound shook verdant earth
Prometheus bringing fire from
the sky
Became death and destruction
Aftermath charcoal blackened
waste left
The land has a memory
What was is no more
But springing from mired soot
Come tenacious green sprouts
This new generation will have
something to say
To the connoisseur of the
forest
Green leaves rise for golden
nourishment
The forest is on fire with
chlorophyll
