River Memories

 

River memories of sand and sky

Like a fuzzy TV image

Coming in and out

Pictures from distant satellites

An echo of cosmic fugue

 

Her dark eyes gazing quizzically

At future horizons

Pine trees looming silently

Over sun blinding river banks

Tan dunes piled high

In Saharan desolation

 

Her gentle body in bow

A radiant Bodhisattva

Out shining forest glow

Our paddles plying water

With gentle collaboration
