Derelict
My weary wheels roll
Winding down
Through graveyards
Of fallen ideals
Broken monuments
To a gilded age
Rusty boxcars
Empty of dreams
My engine asthmatically
puffing
Breathing soot
Like a chain smoker
Into deep soul night
My whistle fading
Angelic stars balefully
gazing
With harp song dirge
Stranded under star fields
Aging in gentle solitude
My ruins settling into soft
soil
Junkyard cradle
Silent sunset easing me
Bones of yesterday
Scattering into dust
Fossilized memories
Sunk deep in layered pain
The mud of years
Submerging my tears
In blankets of time
