Aqua
Old faded flowers from the valley of bones
Scattering in dry winds
Stems swaying lazily to beat of sunlight
Roots thirsty for sweet water
Needing tender earth to enfold brittle
tendrils
Brown petals with streaks of red
Strewn across bleak sands of desert death
The field dreams in mythical night visions
Of pools of water filling the gaping rock
holes
Floods of delightful cool liquid
Spreading over sun drenched yellow
Fallow earth screams for release from
suffering
Dust clouds erase last remains of green
Sun burns down stubble to essence
Leaving only husks of life
Birds hover like grim reapers
Circling with repetition of practiced
scavengers
Their wings outstretched like God's arms
Embracing the wind with soft flapping
Gazing dumbly down
At glaring yellow waves of sand
Sky spirits sailing over mountain ridges
Vanishing behind dry jagged breasts
Of earth mother
Boom of thunder resonates
Dark clouds congregate overhead
Arcs of lightening cascade downward
Pearls of liquid float down from vault of
sky
Splashing lyrically
Luscious streams of aqua stretching out
Reaching across in muddy fingers
Bathing the earth
Touching her
With moist caresses of sky‑water
