Guide on Genealogical Research

2.Where to begin?

The person you began your genealogical quest is with your self. Write a biography about yourself include, names, dates, and places anything other life experience that you can think of.. One of the important if not the most important thing to be done in good record keeping is Document Document Document. Next, start to gather any documents such as birth certificate, report cards, awards, newspaper articles any other memorabilia that you may have of your self.

After yourself do the same with your sisters and brothers, your parents, grandparents and the proceeding generations. Be sure to interview other relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins, even friends of the family to gather as much information as you can about your family heritage.

List of other materials

Other records such as birth, death, marriage certificates, probate records, land records, census, obituaries can be obtained from the different institutions and facilities such as courthouses, libraries, museums, and cemeteries just to name a few.
