Figure 2.5. Part eh is the schematic diagram. There is an AC generator at left. The top of the generator connects to one end of a resistor labeled R. The other end of the resistor connects to one end of an inductor labeled L. The other end of the inductor connects to one end of a capacitor labeled C. The other end of the capacitor connects back to the bottom end of the generator. Part B is the phasor diagram. There are 4 lines which join at the left. The first one goes horizontally to the right and about two thirds of the way along is an arrowhead pointing to the right and labeled V sub R. At the right end of the line is another arrowhead pointing to the right and labeled I. From the joining point a line goes straight down. There is an arrowhead at the end which is pointing down and is labeled V sub C. Another line goes from the joining point straight up. This line is about 2 and a half times as long as the one going down. At the upper end of the line is an arrowhead point up and it is labeled V sub L. On this same line a short distance up from the joining point is another arrowhead pointing up and it is labeled V sub L minus V sub C. It is to scale. The V sub G line goes up to the right and its end is above the V sub R point and to the right of the V sub C minus V sub L point. The angle theta is measured from the V sub R line to the V sub G line. End verbal description.
