Carolina
Crawfish Company
Brett and Jill Miller founded The Carolina Crawfish Company
in the upstate of South Carolina, very close to the northwestern
borders of Georgia and North Carolina. We are currently specializing
in freshwater crustaceans but have future plans to expand into
freshwater finfish aquaculture.
We founded our small farm on the idea of raising a localized
high quality food that would be free of chemicals, hormones,
steroids and the like. Over the last 5 to 10 years we seem to
hear of more and more people looking for just such a product
and plan to help meet the local need as well as be able to show
other small farmers how to produce for themselves and their
communities.
We not only see this in the seafood but in the land animals
as well and have recently started a herd of Lowline Angus cattle
for production of farm raised grass fed beef. The Lowline angus
is considered a "miniature" cattle that was developed
in Australia for purposes of filling a need for the small acreage
farmer, as they require about half the space of a regular size
Angus and are bred to be gentle, easy to care for animals. Next
year we will be expanding our site to include a Lowline sale
section.
