For some years now I have been compiling family trees for anyone who appears on the Victorian censuses of the Fosbury Estate and trying to trace where they came from or where they went to when they moved on. This information may include births, baptisms, marriages, deaths or burials from parish registers or the national civil registration index, where they were living and their occupations from censuses between 1851 and 1901 or, in a few cases, further details from other sources such as Victorian trade directories. My files now include more than 4000 individuals - not all lived on the estate but they all have some connection through ancestors or descendants.
The following is a list of the surnames for which I have most information. If you have evidence that one of your ancestors lived in Fosbury or Oxenwood between 1837 and 1901 (i.e. during Queen Victoria's reign) but their surname does not appear here do still contact me (See Contacts) as they may well be from one of the smaller families in my files.
