The following is a list of websites which I have found useful in my researches.

www.ancestry.co.uk
A vast collection of genealogy resources, including indexed censuses from 1851 to 1901 for England and Wales. Subscriptions are available allowing unlimited access for various periods, although some of the information can be viewed without payment.

www.familysearch.org
Site containing the International Genealogical Index (or IGI), a vast file of information including transcriptions of parish registers as well as information submitted by members of the Mormon Church. As with all transcriptions, it is advisable to check with the original sources wherever possible. Also has transcriptions of 1881 census and 1880 US census.

www.freebmd.org.uk
A volunteer project to transcribe all births, marriages and deaths from the official registers from their beginning in July 1837. This is on-going and the site shows how much has been completed so far.

www.huntleyandpalmers.org.uk
Many people from Fosbury Estate seem to have found their way to the Reading biscuit factory. This site tells the story of the business and its workforce.
