Atemi – Pressure Points
Posted by fighterambition Posted on 23/07/2006

Atemi often assumed to be lethal stems from the Japanese hand-to-hand combat arts. This technique focuses on the vulnerable target areas of the opponent’s body such as the temples, eyes, nose, solar plexus and genitals. In correct context Atemi is used more as a secondary attack to distract ones enemy by inflicting pain and in turn following with a more devastating blow to an exposed opponent. Karate is an obvious style which executes atemi offensivley though rarley with mortal implications in adherence with its code.

"The weakest things in the world can overmatch the strongest things in the world.
Nothing in the world can be compared to water for its weak and yielding nature; yet in attacking the hard and the strong nothing proves better than it. For there is no alternative to it.
The weak can overcome the strong and the yielding can overcome the hard.
This all the world knows but does not practice."
