Bio: Every Sun Devil is a product of the twisted minds of Cassie Peterson, TJ Claassen, and Mike Lee from Karen Bruhn's 10:40 Human Event class, Spring '06 at ASU. For a group project, we were to pitch a movie idea to the class in the hopes that we'll get 20 extra points added to our lowest quiz grade. For those of you not familiar with the story Everyman, here's the breakdown. God sends Death to tell Everyman that he has to go on a quest to redeem himself before he dies, and he's going to die soon. Everyman, in despair, tries to find companions to go with him on his journey. He seeks out fellowship, kindred and cousin, and goods. They all agree to go with him at first, but then back out. He runs into Good-deeds, who would come with but is chained by Everyman's sins. Knowledge takes Everyman to Confession to cleanse him of his sins, and Good-deeds joins Everyman. Now that his "book of counts" looks good, he is ready to die. Knowledge, Strength, Beauty, Discretion, and Five-Wits all desert him in the end, and only Good-deeds remains.
This blog was set up as a preview for our movie - we wanted to portray our main character as a typical ASU Honors College student, getting ready to write their honors thesis. Every Sun Devil runs into various companions on this journey of sorts - distraction, movies, floormates, roommates, parties, and sleep - that cannot follow on the journey. In the end, only studying helps ESD reach the end of the road - completion of the honors thesis.
