In Loving Memory of

Colfax

August 23rd 1998 to October 7th 2011

So much loved and now so very sadly missed by Sue Hayden

dx-ed adenocarcinoma of the anal gland

"My wonderful Colfax just died from cancer. He was a found dog but looked like a Flat Coated Retriever. I hoped he was not a pure bred because that breed is as prone to cancer as the Berner. But it was not to be. I lost my Berner Webster two and a half years ago to cancer. Within six months Colfax was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the anal gland. He had two surgeries, the last one a year and half ago and then radiation. He did well until July when a tumor in a lymph node, the cancer recurring, was found on an ultra sound looking for a problem with the bladder. The vets did all possible but the tumor grew and blocked his elimination. He did not survive the surgery tried in desperation to remove the tumor.

Colfax was a beautiful dog. He always had a happy expression and a waving tail. He was a "Peter Pan"--never becoming an old dog even though he was over 13 when he passed away. He greeted everyone with joy and particularly loved kids. He liked to make everyone part of his pack so always bestowed a big lick if he could get one in. I often had to hand out paper towels to guests when he succeeded. He even licked the cat's head.

I will miss him terribly--such a big empty air spot in my house and my heart. We had such fun together and I am sure I will look like something is missing since he was always with me"
