Don & Janie

Don & Janie met on January 19, 2006 on the campus of University of West Alabama at an Overflow service. Don's best friend, Abe Speed, was the guest speaker that night and so he tagged along for support. Neither did either of them know their lives would change forever. Don notices Janie outside the building and thinks to himself that this girl is very attractive and her smile is amazing. But then he notices something, there's a silver band on her left ring finger. Hopes were shot down. After the service, Janie came up to Don, and they went through the whole spill, 'I know you from somewhere don't I?'. 45 minutes later, they had realized they did not know each other from anywhere and everyone else had gone except for her friend Saretta. So on the sidewalk, Don saw an opportunity and pounced on it like a tiger instead of letting the opportunity come and wrap aroung him like a teddy bear. So it was somewhat official, they were going to the Louie Gigglio concert on Valentine's Day. Numbers were exchanged and they went there seperate ways. Neither of them knew, they both stayed up all night with their friend talking about the other.

Don texted and called Janie throughout the following week and managed up the nerve to meet the parents. Everything went fine. Now it was Janie's turn. So on January 28, 2006, Janie rode with Don to his little brother's Beauty & Beau Review. It was official, the ride their confirmed their was a relationship.

Things went well. Time went by. Don and Janie grew more and more in love. Then for Janie's 21st birthday Don took her to Atlanta, GA for the weekend and went to the Atlanta Braves and Six Flags. What a present huh?!

Don's best friend, Abe, is getting married so Don is his best man. Don, Janie, and his family make the trip to Dubuque, IA for the wedding. Don has already purchased a ring at this time, and of course gotten the approval by his best friend Abe that the ring was very nice. So on the way home from Iowa Don, Janie, and his family all stop in St. Louis, MO to stop and look and visit the Gateway Arch. Don knew he wanted to propose this weekend but the weather had prevented him from doing so at the "Field of Dreams" like he had planned. So it was on to Plan B. But there was no Plan B. It seemed the proposal would have to wait. Then on the way back to the vehicle, there it was, the opportunity of a lifetime, a horse-drawn carriage. Don and Janie got in and rode and the conversation went like this: Janie said, "This is soo romantic. I have never rode one of these before." Don replies, "I haven't either. This is really awesome." With anticipation in his voice Don wraps his arm around Janie, kisses her on the forehead and says, "I love you so much. I will try my hardest to make all your dreams come true." Janie smiles and hugs him back. Don then says, "Starting now", as he pulled the ring out and presented it to her. Don asks, "Jane Elynn Dickerson, would you marry me?" Janie with soo much joy and happiness begins to cry and smiles the biggest smile ever, says "yes", and kisses Don. Family & friends were notified on the way home since they still had approx. 8 hours left to the house.

Then the wedding planning starts. Everything is booked and set up, just a matter of doing the small stuff and waiting on the date to get here. Hope to see you at Fairhaven Baptist Church in Demopolis, AL for the big ceremony on June 15, 2007.
