There is really no one type of Shadow and any horse that doesn’t fit into Seasonal or Fantasy is placed in with Shadows. Though a lot of them arne’t really Shadows such as the Vampires who really don't fit into any of the groups so they place them with the Shadows because they are more on the dark side. Though many of the Shadows are more of the gloomy type, they really love to fight amoung one another, it's like a game but if you lose it means death. These horses only stop fighting with each other when it comes to fight against another type of horse such as the Fantasy Fillies, only then will the Shadows unit together.

These horses come in all shapes and sizes, some that have fire powers and some are exactly what there name is like Werewolf, who turns into a Werewolf each month, she is counted as a Shadow herself. Though these creatures may be power hungry and love to fight, they also can be extremely smart by figuring out there powers farther than any of the other horses could ever dream about. This makes them extremely dangerous and that's why they feel as if they can control the Fantasies since they do not use their power for bad and half of the time the Shadows completely scare them.
