AN ORIGINAL STORY
WRITTEN BY
FRATMAN DANIEL
"What?!  You can't be serious!! You haven't slept with anyone yet?  HAHA!!"
"Shut Up!!" screamed Claire.  She just couldn't take her friends' mockery anymore.  "So what if I haven't slept with anyone yet..." thought Claire.  "I just haven't found the right guy yet."  Claire felt like an outcast, the one dorky looking kid who sat along at the lunch table eating rancid tuna fish sandwiches; only having that  table because of its desire to wobble whenever it had a chance.  "So what, I'm a 26 year old virgin still living at home with my parents!!"  Claire violently shouted at her friends.  "It's not like I  never had the chance to do it, I just have other priorities."
"But Claire..." started Tania, her closest friend,  "What are you waiting for? The 'Perfect Guy' is never gonna come along!!"
Claire sat there in shock.  Chalky black streakes lined her face as she trembled,; realizing what Tania said was true.  Claire needed time alone to think about what her friends were saying and what her beliefs were.  Maybe she could come up with a compromise, or meet a point in the middle. After departing from her friends, she went to the usual spot.  She's been through this rountine before: crying, then bingeing on coffee and cookies from Al's coffee shop.  Oh but not this time.  This time she'd play her cards a little different.  This time she'd meet someone. This time, she'd prove everyone wrong.

Their eyes finally meet and Claire is filled with a new and exciting feeling throughout her preserved body. She had seen him looking at her before, but never had their eyes been as they are now. Since the first day Claire saw Doug, she felt her heart melt like crayons left on the radiator. Seeing shes alone, Doug asks Claire to come over and join him for lunch. Claire gets shaky and her hands clam up as she gives him the innocent smile of hers; the very smile that attracted Doug to her in the first place. As Claire walks over, she is swarmed with embarrassment as she realizes that she left her purse, cell phone and sweater at the table. Doug chuckles as Claire scrambles to get her belongings.
As she walks over to the table, Claire thinks to herself: Do I look ok? Hows my hair? Do I have cookie stuck in my teeth? Do I have coffee breath? She feels herself turn red, almost matching her Nieman Marcus dress. She doesnt know what to do, she is about to sit next to the guy of her dreams. After going through her check list she finally decides she looks alright and sits down. The two begin to talk after the shy, uncomfortable feeling starts to fade. Dougs eyes seem to feel every single bend and curve on Claires body. She had heard things about him, but never listened. Trying to shake off the bad thoughts, Claire notices that Doug is working on a crossword puzzle. She is overjoyed because she too is a fan of crossword puzzles. Doug being the clever man he is asks Claire to solve a puzzle of his. Whats a six letter word for the day Im taking you out to dinner? Nervous, Claire trembles, biting on her lower lip and she finally mumbled, Um, Friday? Ok then!! exclaimed Doug with a little pep in his voice. Wow! Claire thought to herself, The guy of my dreams wants to take me out on a date!! How would their date go?
Sweating, she smiled at Doug and excused herself to the bathroom. She evaluated herself and decided to go for it. She decided that it was time to prove everyone wrong. It was time to show everyone that she can get any guy and can do whatever she wants. When she returned, she had a new look to her. She resembled a hyena, laughing and fierce on the outside, quiet and dark on the inside. With a mischievous smile on her face, she asked Doug what his plans were for the evening. When he simply replied Eh, nothing much, She boldly asked mmmwanna go to your place?
