The Middlebury Panthers captured their third consecutive NCAA Championship Saturday night defeating top ranked Plattsburgh State 3-1. National Player of the Year Emily Quizon put the Panthers ahead 3-0 on a penalty shot late in the second period. Net minder Kate Kogut stopped 24 of 25 shots for the victory.

Panthers Win Third Consecutive Title

PLATTSBURGH - Middlebury won its third consecutive NCAA title as they picked up a 3-1 win over Plattsburgh in the championship game at Plattsburgh. The national title is the fifth for the women’s hockey program and the 25th for Middlebury College in the last 11 years. The Panthers end their season at 27-2, tying the school record of 27 wins set back in the ’99-’00 season. Middlebury scored goals via the power play, penalty shot and short handed situation in the game.

Oswego State Announces New Program and Head Coach

OSWEGO - For the second time in its intercollegiate athletics history, Oswego State will compete in women's ice hockey. Diane Dillon was named head coach of the Laker women's program on Wednesday.

The Lakers will take the ice as a fully accepted member of the Division III ECAC Women's West in the 2006-07 season. Oswego State's schedule will be comprised of 14 conference games and approximately six additional non-conference games. The Lakers will be eligible for ECAC Women's West and NCAA postseason tournaments.
