Why do I want to know about Clothing's history?

Fashion's History

100,000 B.C. - 50,000 B.C.

No one really knows for sure when the average caveman really started to wear the lion-cloth, but anthropologists estimate that wearing clothing started around 100,000 - 50,000 B.C. The cloth was made out of natural elements such as animal skin and leaves. Usually the cloth was tied together or sewn with needles made from animal bones. In the later years man discovered the woven fabrics work better than wool, thus started the first cloth.[img]http://h1.ripway.com/romanianfreak/cavemen2_th.jpg[/img]

1558 A.D. - 1603 A.D.

During the Renissance Time there were many fashionable monarchs but none came close to one of England's greatest queen. Queen Elizabeth I was the second child of King Henry VIII, but the first child to Anne Boyelyn. Her reign had lasted 45 golden years. During that time many new things had been discovered including a change in fashion. Women were starting to learn from France's fasion, including wearing their hair down and out of hat veils. Queen Elizabeth I fashions consisted of many fashionable jewlery and a neck collar on various dresses.

1643 A.D. - 1715 A.D.

One of France's greatest monarchs was also the highlighted fashionist of the world's History. King Louis XIV was completly obsessed with making a fashion statement as well as power. He would change his clothing at least five or six times a day, and was aware of not repeating the same outfit twice. King Louis XIV had started the revolution of petticoat breeches, and ruffles and ribbons on men's clothing.

1730 A.D. - 1775 A.D.

It was time for the revolutiion politically, socailly, and Fashionably. Men were starting to were less ruffles and more buttons on the jakets and vests. Women were wearing less undergarnments but added one more: The Dreaded Corset!(dun, dun, duuun). the dresses were also showing alot more of a neckline and less of their hair. Bonnets and hats were away of showing your socail status; the more accesories on the hat, the richer the woman was.

1850s A.D. - 1910s A.D.

Fashion had taken a major change for the better. As cowboys were becoming more popular to gossip about, Fashion became more of a statement. Men started dressing different from other men. Gentlemen were taking a custom to ties and suits, and cowboys were wearing plain, loose, shirts and levis. Women's clothing was becoming even more form-fitting to the body. The dresses were going from 360 degree crinoline to gathering the bulk only in the back, and showing the petticoat. Also more styles were showing the shoulders too!

1915 - 1919

The new century had started to take a turn. Women were starting to want more independance, especially in their clothing. Some women started wearing suits with skirts, others still wore dresses, but they would wear fur and other fun accessories. Women's dresses were also showing off their ankles.

1920 - 1923

Women were getting sick of clthing that fit around every curve of the body. So the new style for late night party animals and entertainers was the straight dresses. Men started becoming more into gambling and would were zoot suits. Zoot suits had suspenders that would keep the pants up to the waist, and had big hats with feathers.

1950's

Women were getting more wild when they first heard elvis and his crazy rock n' roll music. T-shirts had started to shine in the men's clothing; along with rolled jeans, and leather jackets. Girls skirts were mid-calf legnth and were in bright colors. They would also wear cashmere sweaters and saddle shoes. Just watch "Grease" to get the picture.

1960's

Hey man. The sixties were all about peace and love man. Men would were a square Cuban heel on their boots, tie-dye shirts, and the hair was cropped behind the ears. It was also the era of disco baby. bright colors, big polka-dots, and go-go boots were fahionable for the women.

1980's

The coming of the wild years. Rock n'Roll made a turning point for Madonna, David Bowie, and Guns n' Roses. The clothing went from snake skin mini shirts with black leggings, to levi jackets and parachute pants. The Fashion was all about being rebellious against parents and the Vetenam War.

Today

The clothing is bringing back alot of diffent time period clothing with a twist of the new century. Everyone is wereing something different from the person sitting next to them. The men just love to show their boxers in baggy pants, and T-shirts with a celebrity on them. Women are wearing low-cut shirts that fit the curves, and bell-bottom pants.
