Advanced Animal Learning Seminar
At Taronga Zoo, Sydney, Australia This four-
day seminar on advanced animal training – taught by Thad Lacinak, Marty MacPhee,
Heidi Hellmuth, and Sabrina Brando – consists of in-depth discussion, analysis, and
practice of animal behavior and training principles. A wide variety of animal species
are highlighted including marine mammals, birds of prey, equines, exotic animals,
and domestic pets. The seminar is specifically designed to enhance the animal
training and handling skills of professional trainers, zookeepers, veterinary
personnel, and large animal handlers. A basic understanding of behavior
modification is essential; although some basics will be covered this seminar is intended

NEOTROPICAL PRIMATE HUSBANDRY, RESEARCH AND CONSERVATION CONFERENCE
Brookfield Zoo is pleased to announce that it will host a Neotropical Primate Husbandry, Research, and Conservation Conference, to be held Tuesday, October 13 through Thursday, October 15, 2009. This conference will focus on a variety of topics pertaining to neotropical primates and will bring together staff from zoological parks, sanctuaries, and universities, as well as field researchers and range country biologists to share the most current information on husbandry, conservation, and emergent issues pertaining to captive and wild populations of neotropical primates. The workshop will include three days of presentations, a poster session, as well an icebreaker, silent auction, and banquet.
