Pre-Trip Complexities

Before the trip even starts, there is a lot to think about: getting the passport, visas, flight, insurance, backup funds, etc all figured out takes a long time. Something else that is taking up a lot of my time is the attempt to secure us a flat before we land. I have been searching Daft for the cheapest rental I can find, but it has been surprising how many responces I have received that indicated that the place in question was strictly only for one person.

I have also decided that calling long distance to a mobile in Ireland is difficult. I looked up the international dialing code (011) and the country code (353) and went to dialing. I was told that I dialed wrong. I looked on the internet as to how to dial said number to Ireland from Canada. They indicated that I should leave out the first couple of numbers in the telephone number since I am calling internationally. Only once did I get a real person to answer the phone, but they couldn't hear me. I kept trying back, and sometimes I would connect and get nothing, sometimes the machine would tell me to try again, or sometimes it would tell me the mobile user was unavaliable. If that was true, why didn't they have voice mail?

This, my friends, is why you put an e-mail address on a apartment for let listing on the internet.

When planning a trip of this length, it is important to get all the correct paperwork done as quickly as possible. It is best to be done early rather than trying to race the clock to make sure you are allowed to board your plane.

Don't worry, though - we found a home in Rathgar.
