Over the last 25 yrs Devo has become one of Adelaide's high profile Djs and dance music pioneers. Devo s versatility, experience and ability to read a crowed and serve up an outstanding high impact performance has set him apart from the rest with his natural ability and individual style, clean faultless mixes and approach to his performance. Since starting this career as a hobby and past time 25yrs ago Devo has seen many developments in this field, from the revolutionary introduction of the TECHNICS SL1200s and the evolutionary progression of the Underground Dance Movement since the beginning of his career back in the early 80s. During these years, Devo played a major part in the development of this movent which today has swept the Australia and the rest of the World.. Devos progress through the many styles of modern dance music and natural his personal taste and blend of musical styles has been one of his biggest asset's and key to each outstanding performance. Being so flexible and being able to walk into a venue and sum up what he feels will get the house pumping is like another day at the office. He can adapt to any crowed and deliver a professional entertaining experience that leaves v the crowd pumped and wanting more. Devo's record collection up until recently consisted of approximately 25 - 30,000 records crossing all sections and music genres and occupying a substantial amount of storage place at his residence and very sought after by many individuals and fellow Dj's. From 1990 to 1995 Devo aka Dj Uzi managed to setup a spare room once occupied by thousands of records into a very modest Analogue recording studio. From starting with purchasing a Rolland TB303 from a deceased estate he soon found himself addicted to the endless possibilities to making music and became very interested in the midi automation and sequencing aspect . It was then his vintage synth keyboard collection started to take shape and many hours, days and weeks were spent in the studio getting his head around every aspect of its operation and possibilities. Mentors like Ollie Olson Gus Till from the Models and many of the International Djs Devo has worked with served him well with tricks of the trade and enthusiasm. Its around this time that Diesel was offered an opportunity to be a part of the 20th Century Fox Corporations new Australian Cable Television Network, 20th Century Fox. Devo took this opportunity to put his Dj career to one side and move to Sydney Australia, and be one of the team players amongst some of the youngest creative minds in Australia and take part in the development and innovation of Digital Music Television. This saw Devo once again behind the desk mixing music and coordinating a completely new medium, Digital Television Streamed Media. This is only part of Devos accomplishments as you will read and see from the following text and information, he has proved himself to be an innovator to this ever growing industry and has been an inspiration to many of the Djs we see today. As well as being passionate to his chosen career and a natural when it comes to his musical ability he stands as someone that always stood and remembered as one of those Dj's that wasn't afraid to stand his ground and not fall to becoming just another crowd pleaser, but rather took chances and searched long and hard to find music most other Dj's could only wish they could have gotten their hands on first. Advice for Djs today breaking into Djing I have only 3 pieces of advice that I feel is imperative to being successful in this field. Firstly, Dedication, practice and keeping your head firmly on your shoulders and focused on being good at what your doing, taking the time to search listen and more importantly get your hands on that wax before the other guy and be seen as a leader not a mere follower like most and finally , KEEP IT REAL:, Be true to yourself and to those who take the time to support you, Don't become one of these bedroom Djs that gets a club job and thinks they know it all because trust me you never know it all, BE REAL and make yourself approachable to your listeners. In doing that you can guarantee a long career and many damn fine nights you wont ever forget..
