Todd Chas
South Carolina Kickoff Coordinator

I joined South Carolinians for Drug Law Reform because I believe that the war on drugs inTodd and two of his four children the United States is an expensive, cruel and hypocritical failure.

When I heard about Ken's bike ride, I was delighted at the opportunity for our organization to get involved. Ken's case is just one of many which demonstrates the need for more common sense and compassion in our local and national drug policies.

Poll after poll shows that the American people are overwhelmingly in favor of providing safe access to marijuana under the guidance of a licensed physician. Yet, we remain oppressed under abusive drug laws.

If we are to get our legislators around the country to follow the true will of the people, we need to start speaking out. Ken's courageous ride speaks loudly and I thank him and his dedicated crew for their efforts.

We have a current effort in South Carolina. Our medical marijuana project is officially called the SC Compassionate Care Campaign.  We have recently launched a state-wide organizing Compassionate Care campaign to petition the Governor of SC and the General Assembly to pass legislation legalizing marijuana for medical use when prescribed by a physician. We believe compassion and common sense dictate a change in the law.
