Why in the world am I talking about marijuana? Why do I think an awareness raising bicycle journey across the country to protest laws against its use in medicine is important enough to donate time and resources to? Why would I risk my reputation and freedom to advocate for a little plant that has been used as the basis for a 'drug' war and an excuse for the imprisonment of millions of citizens?

But in Plain truth. . . My children's suffering is what motivates me to put everything on the line for this journey.

The thing that this bikeride, the Journey for Justice Seven, represents that is so supremely urgent to me is medical freedom. This is not about getting high - This is about allowing sick, dying and disabled people a little peace and dignity.

I believe that, if you have the knowledge the journeyers want to share, you will withdraw your support of bad laws that would allow them to label my peaceful generous loving children as criminals for trying to raise their quality of life.

I am so frustrated right now because conventional medicine has failed the people I love. The health system has failed them. The pharmaceutical companies have failed them. And the people representing the United States Government have failed them. I don't want you, because of government propagated ignorance, to fail them too.

I have a daughter who was damaged by a doctor and the damage resulted in a mass of recurring scar tissue that is called Arachnoiditis and complicates her life no end. She couldn't sue the doctor who caused it because the disease took the normal five years to develop to the point where doctors label it Arachnoiditis. True to their benefactors, politicians conveniently made a law that says patients can't sue doctors after five years. The pain she suffers continually can be eased by cannabis.

I have another daughter who suffers lung problems, which cannabis has been proven to relieve.

I have another daughter who has multiple medical problems resulting from a three month coma, many of which problems cannabis can help.

I have a hardworking 32 year old son who just had a heart attack three days ago. Recent research has proven that cannabis can help heart disease but he's afraid to even try it because he doesn't want to lose his family or go to prison.

My oldest daughter was told today that cancer has spread throughout her body and into her nodes and bloodstream and even her bones because doctors failed to diagnosis it when she began seeking answers to her health problems a year ago. Cannabis has been well documented to assist in the control of symptoms caused by living with or dying of cancer. She wants to try it but is afraid of law enforcers.

If I have an aversion to politicians and doctors and the chemical drugs they push ...and I do... you can understand, maybe even empathize. I should not be forced to view the medical profession or the political arena as authorities over mine or my family's medical care. If I find that nature raises the quality of life for suffering people, why would I refuse to share that knowledge with those I love? Why should I have to?

God/Nature gave that plant to the people and I want to know why in the world anyone feels one group of people had the right to take possession of it and lock the rest of us up for using it? The plants belong to no one - they are for the use of everyone!

I have always believed my use of cannabis is the difference between the progression of my dead mother's diseases and the same diseases in myself that have not crippled nor killed me. I have always firmly declared that proper research would prove that cannabis is a preventive medicine. And it's validation to me that my children who are in life-threatening conditions have not used it in their medical care while I, who am old enough to be their mother :) , remain in relatively good health.

Please, look it over and if you or someone you love has been hurt by conventional medicine; if you have diseases that your children may inherit; if you think anyone you love will ever have a need for relief that doctors cannot offer, please, please, please support this journey for medical freedom.
