Bill Bateman History
In 1987 Bill opened his first restaurant on Harford Rd. in the Cub Hill community in Baltimore County. In 1995 he and his two business partners (Mark Londas and Chuck Howard) opened the second Bistro Location in Towson on York Road adjacent to Towson State University. Since then Bill has opened four other restaurant locations including Clarksville (Columbia), Reisterstown, Severna Park, North Plaza, and Hanover. Other Bill Bateman's Bistro locations are being planned as Bill receives constant requests to expand to new areas.
The only other restaurants to bear the Bill Bateman's name are located in Bel Air Maryland, and BWI Marshall Airport. These stores however were sold and are no longer owned or operated by Bill; his partners or anyone employed by them. Bill also franchises carryout locations. The current carryout locations are Dundalk, Rosedale, Abingdon, and Taylor Ave. Again neither Bill nor any of his partners own or operate these franchises.
Since the beginning Bill has always approved everything that goes on the menu at the Bistro. Much like when there was only one location you can often catch him back in our kitchen working on and testing new menu items.
Bill Bateman began his restaurants with his own recipes as well as some old family favorites, hence many of the names on the menu. Always dedicated to detail, quality, and consistency everything was homemade from scratch. With that dedication to consistency and the great success and growth of our company we now have help from some larger food purveyors to make a few of our signature recipes. We also insure that as always Bill buys and uses only the freshest ground beef for his juicy burgers and the highest quality poultry for his delicious buffalo wings and chicken breast sandwiches!
