This is Alayna's World!!! Alayna was born June 15, 2005 in Dearborn, MI!!! Alayna is your normal baby. She does everything a baby should. Her favorite thing is getting into everything. Her happy demeanor, carefree spirit and incredible zest for life & learning are just contagious. We are truly blessed to be the loving in the presence of this amazing angel who continues to be our source of strength and inspiration. The one thing that sets he apart from being what they call "Normal" is Alayna has Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the respiratory and digestive systems. A defective gene causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. These thick secretions also obstruct the pancreas, preventing digestive enzymes from reaching the intestines to help break down and absorb food. Alayna’s health is and will always be our biggest concern. Her lungs continue to be clear and she is gaining weight. We marvel at her ability to take enzymes before every meal and sit through breathing treatments. CF affects each patient differently. What the future holds for Alayna’s health is truly unknown. We will not stop pursuing the ultimate goal a cure for CF. She is truly a miracle.
