Photos were taken on the 13th of July, 2003. I had been
waiting
for the arrival of four new fixed ports to complete the main cabin .
I had been working on it since Dec. 2002.
(Dec. 2001, I had updated the galley) On the 16th of July, 2003,
lightning struck the tin roof of one of the smaller
boat houses at Horn Harbor Marina. A fire started on one of the
four power boats inside. It
spread very fast. The fire dept and neighbors were there quickly
and managed to contain the fire to that area
of the marina, and managed to move most of the neighboring boats.
Sea Elf was in the first open
slip next to the fire. She suffered severe heat and fire damage
to the port side. Luckily, no one was hurt.
I am happy to say that I did not give in to my emotions. At
first, I felt after working so hard on the interior I just couldn't
bring myself to dealing with a 'major reconstruction'. But after
much thought and encouragement from family and friends, I decided that
giving up was not the proper thing to do. It is now the 18th of
Dec. 2004 and reconstruction is going well. Please click hereto
