FBLA Activities
& Services
FBLA members provide service to their school and
community. The FBLA creed states that every person should actively work
toward improving social, political, community and family life. Through
community service, FBLA members can achieve this goal.

The Arc of Fort Bend
The
Arc of Fort Bend is a center for the mentally ill. FBLA members participate
in helping the mentally ill by talking to them and making
them feel special. Members also read to them and take them to the park
for recreation. The companionship FBLA members provide makes them feel
loved and lets them know that there are many people who care about them.
Food
Drive
The goal of the food drive was to collect food to donate
to Paulines church during Thanksgiving. All members were asked
to bring nonperishable food items for donation. FBLA collected over
a hundred cans of food for donation. This food was to be given to the
needy families of Fort Bend. This was our way of saying thanks to everyone.
Recycling
The recycling
project is to promote less contamination of nature. FBLA is committed
to work for the recycling project in which members will collect the
recycled trash from all classrooms. This will lead to many advantages
benefiting the people, community and the environment.
Toy Drive
The aim
of the Toy Drive was to collect toys to donate to Fort Bend Santas
Exchange. FBLA members decorated boxes and placed them in every room
for students to bring in toys. Members gathered over a hundred toys
and gave them out as presents for the needy children during Christmas.
The Toy Drive delights children and makes them feel special.
Competitions/Conferences
FBLA is
an active organization with conferences and competitions that helps
students develop essential skills.
It brings
economic education, community involvement, leadership and business skills
as well as career development programs to students to prepare them for
leadership and success in business in future.
Meetings
Meetings
are held every Wednesday on the second and fourth week of the month,
switching between formal
and informal
meetings. In formal meetings, members are
required to wear
business attire in
order to
recieve credit
for that
meeting. Informal
meetings require members to wear their FBLA T-shirts. Meetings are held
both before and after school. View a video clip of the meeting
from January 15, 2003.
