Welcome. This site is a collection of bird pictures I have taken since Feb 1999 with the Nikon Coolpix 950 and Coolpix 990 digital camera in combination with a Leica Apo-Televid 77 mm spotting scope. All photos were taken by natural available light with exception of one nightjar which was lit by incandescent bulb. Most of the birds are Malaysian species with some foreign birds shot abroad. In Malaysia we have over 600 species of birds. Some are migratory birds that are seen only during the northern winter months. What I have here is just a small collection. In my own way, I am trying to promote Malaysia as a birding destination as the birds are much prettier in real life than my pictures can depict.

This is my first attempt at web design and I have decided to keep it simple and just showcase my work with thumbnails which will open to a larger image when clicked. If there are any shortcomings, please excuse me and let me know at

I hope you will enjoy your browse through. Please come back often. As with some sites, this one will perpetually be under construction as I add more birds to my collection.  The birds are not in any order. Just enjoy them for their beauty and I hope that you will find pleasure from them as much as I had derived from shooting them.

All these pictures are copyrighted. I hope you will respect this as I have spent much time and effort shooting them.

How the photos are taken.
To those of you photographically inclined, here is where you can find out how I shoot these birds.

Digiscoping Update (27.11.2001) documenting some changes in the way I shoot.
