This is the Dollarbird (Eurystomus orientalis). Size 30 cm (12in).
Roller family bird with orangey red bill and glossy dark blue-green
plumage. Another diagnostic feature are the broad silvery white patches
underwing seen only in flight.

It is a common resident, passage migrant and common northern winter
visitor here in Malaysia and found in mangroves, forest edge, beach
scrub, and open country. At some places they are quite shy but this
particular bird at Cape Rachado lighthouse at Tanjung Tuan was not and
permitted good shots to be taken in spite of some noisy workmen about.
