Patrice Martinez Born June 12, 1963 in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA Parents: Margarita Martinez-Cannon (Mother) · Bennie Martinez (Father)Siblings: Benita Telles, Benito Martínez, Maria Martínez and adopted Ricardo Ortiz-Barreto.


Patrice Martinez died unexpectedly on December 25, 2018 at her home in Burbank, Southern California, after a long illness. Patrice was a Beautiful talented Lady, she was taken to soon and will be missed by her family and friends, and fans. In recent years Martinez sought other life and career interests and worked in real estate and management.


She began her career in her early teens, when she was working as an extra in Convoy (1978) starring Kris Kristofferson and directed by Sam Peckinpah. After catching the director's eye, Peckinpah offered her a speaking role.

Still a teenager, Patrice became the lead stage actress for "La Compañía", a bilingual theatrical repertory company founded by her mother, Margarita Martínez, and her mentor, Jose Rodríguez.

Patrice graduated early from high school, the actress followed the footsteps of some very distinguished actors when she decided to seek formal training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, one of the world's most prestigious and respected drama schools. Among the 3000 aspiring actors from around the world vying for the only 23 coveted entries that were offered, Patrice was not only chosen but was awarded the sole scholarship of her term. she was one of only three non-British students among 23 accepted altogether. When she ran out of money in London, she waited on tables and cleaned rooms at her boarding house in exchange for room and board. Upon her graduation from RADA, she was honored with five of the most prominent awards the academy has to commend.

Received several prestigious awards including the SAG/AFTRA Award for achievements in the entertainment industry, Golden Eagle Award for being an accomplished actress, the Sir Emile Littler Award for outstanding talent, the Flora Robson Award for the best talent from overseas, the Edmund Gray Memorial Award for the best performance in a restoration company, the Dame Edith Evans Memorial Award for her excellence in speaking poetry, and the Lord Lurgan's Ivar Novello Award for her grace and charm in movement. Patrice returned to the US after finishing her studies at RADA and moved from her home state of New Mexico to California Upon finishing her classical studies, she returned to the US pursue her acting career in Los Angeles, landed her first acting job in an independent film called A Walk on the Moon that was released later in 1987. Off screen, Patrice was known by her friends and colleagues to be a “sweetheart of a human being,” a kind and gentle woman who did not take herself seriously but took her acting profession seriously, remained largely a private person. Actress Dyana Ortelli remembers first meeting Patrice on location in the Mexican town, the film set of Santo Poco when they were working on Three Amigos. “Everything I had heard about her was true! She was a stunning beauty, who was also kind, generous, gracious, funny and amazingly talented,” Ortelli recalled. “She was proud of her Latina roots and passionate about giving back to our community. We gave her Victoria, we talked about how we saw her and it was great because we were able to come to a character that was much more interesting. She was feisty, fiery, headstrong, ahead of her time.
