We as fans, are shocked at the death of a man who at 34 years of age had accomplished a great deal in his life and music. Chuck always seemed a very thoughtful individual in both the way he wrote music and the way his lyrics made you think about what they actually meant. He was perhaps the first Death metal musician to escape the limitations that the death metal tag can bring.
I have been lucky enough to have seen Death live on one occasion when they played London on the Symbolic tour in 1995. I still have memories of that night as it was such a great honour to see them performing these magical songs for all the fans in London that night. From now on when I listen to his music, I won't have the same feeling as I used to when I listened to his music before his demise. I will enjoy and marvel at his guitar playing again, but there just won't be the same feeling knowing that the creator of these sounds is no longer with us. Let the metal flow...
REST IN PEACE - CHUCK SCHULDINER.
