This is an 1882 Model 12 New Family Singer,
serial #5 006 685 . It is in very nice condition for it's age.
The decals are still in good shape, and it runs smoothly.
It has a transverse or reciprocating "boat" shuttle.

This is the case. Notice the large Singer decal on the front. This one is of light oak.

This is a good overall view of the machine. Notice how there are long horizontal plates on either side of the needle. The transverse shuttle goes back and forth under these plates.
